This is where I live and it's not a scary place. There seem to be people that are scared to walk around Downtown Cincinnati and especially the infamous Over-The-Rhine area. It's not all the "hood" and has some wonderful spots to hang out, explore and live. Try a walking tour sometime or come in to the city to eat. Unfortunately, it's not NYC so come early.
